Itinerary for the Canoe/Kayak Experience
A two day Canoe and Kayak Adventure were new skills will be learnt, and developed. Our aim is to help you become confident on the water and have some fun. We are accredited by the British Canoe Union. We hope to get you all through your BCU One Star Award. The Xperience will be held at our facilities at Aldwark. On the A59 between York and Harrogate. 15 minutes from Boroughbridge.
You can arrive from 8 am. Alternatively we will be collecting people from Harrogate at, St Roberts School at 8.00am (This is a online booking system and is limited to 14 people).
DAY 1.
9.00am-9.30am Introduction, Induction, Equipment.
9.30am-12.30pm Canoe Xperience including Skills training
12.30pm-13.30pm Lunch
13.30pm-16.30pm River Trip Aldwark to Linton on Ouse.
17.30 Drop off in Harrogate.
Day 2.
9.00am-9.30am Get Changed
9.30am-12.30pm Kayak Xperience including Skills training.
12.30pm-13.30pm Lunch
13.30pm-16.30pm Kayak Games and River Trip.
17.30 Drop off in Harrogate.
Day 1. The first day will be a Canoe Experience. You will learn
basic paddle skills in a canoe along with the basic fundamentals of paddle
sport. At the end of the day you will be fluent at moving the canoe forwards,
backwards, sideways and several different ways to turn the canoe. In the afternoon you will take part in a tranquil paddle from Aldwark Scout Centre to Linton Lock, this section of the
River Ure passes through some pleasant countryside including Linton on Ouse
Airfield were the Red Arrows are often Training.
Day 2.
Like day one you will have the opportunity to learn how to paddle a Closed Cockpit
Kayak and carry out a small river trip.
The Fundamentals to paddlesport relating to the Closed Cockpit Kayak
will be taught and you will come away as a one Star Paddler in both Canoe and
Kayak. This is the first level on the British Canoe Union Ladder to becoming a
proficient paddler. Hopefully the two days Experience will wet your appetite
and you will want to do more and move onto bigger and better water.
